Merc War 2000 - the Mercs vs Howie

Welcome friends.  Please pull up a chair as you peruse the remembered events of this years annual merc war.  This year, the mercs of York, the Bentwood Raiders, challenged one of the best and most good humoured knights in York - Sir Elric.  But, lets be absolutely correct when we tell this tale.  It is actually Howie upon which we declared war!

The war was long and grueling.  Preparations during the months preceeding were tiring.  The day was filled with laughter and fun as we engaged in a most histoerical clash of swords that has been heard in quite some time.  The best weapon of the day was the practical joke.  Each side was armed with more than its share thus a great time was had by all.

The day begun with a champions battle between a little known clown merc and the chosen enemy for the first annual merc war - Howie!  This was a valiant fight, but in the end, Howie took this battle.

But that victory is short lived as Howie bashes the clown's face with his shield.

Once again the Clown is down and this time Howie takes little mercy.

Though the mercs were outnumbered two to one in the steel combat, we still managed to take the overall victory with the same ratio.

We were small but fierce!  The Merc army awaits	Lulled into a false sense of security by their own numbers, Howie's army prepares to do battle.	Lay on is called!	Sir Wright to the rescue!	The King is severly outnumbered

Below are the shinai battles fought during the day.  We fought both open field battles and the first ever York naval battle.  Again, the victory went to the Merc army.

The Merc army poses for your enjoyment	Copy Cats!  Hey howie, close your mouth!	A gueling battle begun!	Hey...Look up there!  Nice try anyway.	The mercs have almost all been defeated, and not to be outdone by Q, Amador takes on the entire enemy army.
Howie gestures back to his army as he shouts, "To hell with this, I'm fightin' for the Mercs!"	Howie heads up the merc navy for a victorious battle.

There were a plentitude of swords on the field during the ren battles this day.  The advantage and the win went to the mercs in this arena.  Though, I must admit that for a bunch of mace weilding brutes, there was some fierce competition from the enemy.  I am glad to see that so many people are making such strides in their rapier fighting.  If we keep this up, we will soon be an invincible force throughout Adria in both Steel (which we already are) and in Ren ( which we are quickly becoming.)   (Hey, was that a challenge?)  Go York!

The champions battle for ren was fought between Sir Triston and Sir Trakx.   Both men fought well.  Sir Triston took the final victory.

Nice shot captain!  Next time, though, maybe you should wait until after the fight to take you bow.
